Yes, she was ready. Deep down she somehow knew that she was. All of her life she had wanted a beast, somebody to keep her company when she felt like she had nobody else around. Just recently she had been accepted into the royal court of the Light Kingdom as a mage, and that was much more than she ever could have dreamed for. She still didn't know how she met the qualifications, but somehow had managed to pass the test. With her staff in a specialized sheath that was on her waist, the tiny girl walked through the Mythic Forest, coming to a pool that was quite famous. It was where all elves came to get their beast, but there was some sort of fear in the back of the blond's mind that there would be nobody there to greet her.
But when she advanced upon the pool, bright blue water twinkling before her in all of its beauty, the small girl felt a sudden wave of relief. She didn't know what from, but she sat down, not minding that she was sitting in dirt. Miku smiled into the clear pool, not hearing anything, but slowly seeing a figure fade through what seemed to be a hazy fog in the water and not behind her. She narrowed her chocolate eyes and tried to place what it was, but once she did, she saw a pair of bright pair of golden eyes, black and blue coloring on its head and a large beak. She whipped around as she was still in her sitting position, seeing the creature tilt its head in curiosity.
You found me! It chirped in a woman's voice, it was deep and powerful, though had a loving edge to it, obviously warm and happy. I'm glad, Miku!
So it was true, they really did know everything about their masters automatically. Though Miku didn't consider herself a master, for she already considered this beast to be her friend, not her pet. In fact, calling such a beautiful creation a "beast" was a little bit mean in the mind of the mage.
"Rune!" The tiny girl exclaimed, getting to her feet and not hesitating to wrap her arms around the creature's neck. This was the first time she had met her companion, but it wasn't the first she had thought about the name. For she had spent her entire life picking out the perfect one, and she somehow knew that her companion would be quite beautiful and mystical; Rune was the perfect name for her.
Come on, I have much to show you, little Miku. The enchantress somehow knew that the nickname just given to her at that moment would stick forever. Following Rune's lead and getting on the raptor-like creature's back, though it was more of her neck so the small girl wouldn't get in the way of those brilliant wings, Rune took off through the forest and broke through the tree canopy with ease. Miku held on for dear life, but she honestly had never been happier. She was laughing and smiling as bright as she ever had, and the beast was happy. Rune was happy.
Rune.. It was such a pretty name.
